Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offers investors excellent site conditions: In addition to its central location in Europe and its function as a link between Scandinavia and East Europe, favourably priced real estate and spacious commercial areas as well as its ultra-modern telecommunication network are decisive plus points. There is a concentration of goods from all over the world which flows in and out of the Baltic Sea harbours of the state, which belong to the most modern harbours of the world. Since 2006 the efficient transport infrastructure has been completed with the construction of the new Baltic Sea motorway A20, the largest German motorway project since 1945.
Investors who decide to locate in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are supported in a variety of ways. One factor is the quality of attention and care given to investors – from the very beginning of the planning phase until the successful conclusion of the project. The staffers of the department called "Koordinierung Wirtschaftsförderung" (Coordination of Commercial Advancement) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are investors’ key contact and have taken on the responsibility for the steering and monitoring of investment projects. Furthermore, investors receive competent advice from state business promotion associations.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is convincing with its generous enhancements. This means that the investment plans for example of medium-sized companies can be subsidised with funds of the joint task organisation for the improvement of regional economic structure, Gemeinschaftsaufgabe "Verbesserung der regionalen Wirtschaftsstruktur" (GA) by up to 50 percent of the subsidisable investment costs. Within the scope of offensive efforts to encourage the establishment of industry, the state is currently supporting investment in the wood and food industries, in maritime industry, in the areas of the machine engineering industry as well as technology oriented projects.
