The State Institute for Agriculture and Fishing Research in Gülzow (Landesforschungsanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Fischerei - LFA) was founded in 1992. Since then it has been conducting practice-oriented research in the areas of agriculture, fishing and horticulture.
Sustainable solutions for approaching present day and future problems in agriculture and nutritional science and home economics in the state are being developed at LFA based on research relevant to practice. Hence the members of its staff are engaged in finding ways to make food safer and the production of food more environmental-friendly. Methods for process optimisation in crop production or recommendations for managing fish farming waters are additional results of their scientific work.
