A prerequisite for fishing in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the fishing licence which can be obtained after passing the fishing exam. Furthermore, there is the time limited tourist fishing licence which can be purchased once a year for a period of 28 subsequent days. It costs 20 euros and can be acquired at the Landesamt für Landwirtschaft, Lebensmittelsicherheit und Fischerei in Rostock as well as at municipal and district administration offices.
Beyond that the fisherman has to acquire a permit for the respective waters. This permit can be obtained from the fishing tenant, from fishing clubs, at camping sites and in fishing equipment shops for one day, one week or one month.
Those who want to go fishing in the coastal waters of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern need an additional Baltic Sea fishing permit. This permit can also be acquired at the Landesamt für Landwirtschaft, Lebensmittelsicherheit und Fischerei, at its fishing control stations, but also in fishing equipment shops and from tourist information offices.
