Dolgen Lake and Hohen Sprenz Lake Landscape Conservation Area

The Dolgen Lake and Hohen Sprenz Lake Landscape Conservation Area constituting 16 square kilometres is located north of Dolgen Lake and west of the town of Wendorf. The region is characterised by eskers from the late Ice Age (Dolgener Os). They are accumulations of earth resembling dams, which developed during the Ice Age and are a part of the ground moraine. In addition extensive sand and gravel areas as well as mixed pine and beech woods are typical of this landscape conservation area.

Nature lovers esteem the variety of fauna and flora here. Both lakes, distinguished by their excellent water quality, are the home of numerous water birds. Thanks to several hiking paths, recreation seekers can easily explore the region on foot or by bicycle.
