The Ahrenshoop Woods - Ahrenshooper Holz - are an old stock of deciduous trees between the Baltic Sea and the Saal Bodden. Dense stocks of holly characterise the beech woods with moor grass; the holly reaches a height of up to five metres, above all in the forest aisles. Besides red beech, English oak, black alder, sycamore and mountain ash characterise the woods. In the spring time woodruff and hedge violets, fleece flower roots und stitchwort bloom here. The middle-spotted woodpecker, the tawny owl, the red-breasted flycatcher and the wood dove belong to the birds which breed in the Ahrenshoop Woods.
Protective measures aim primarily at stabilising the water ecology. Visitors can explore the nature reserve on a hiking trail beginning at the eastern outskirts of Ahrenshoop
