| Administrative district(s) or town: | North-west Mecklenburg |
| Size: | 0.16 square kilometres |
| Reserve since: | 1994 |
| Location: | The calcareous lowmoor and the clay pits are situated south-east of the district administrative centre of Grevesmühlen between the Alte Ziegelei, an old brickyard, and the district of Degtow. |
The calcareous transitional moor is the habitat of protected and endangered flora and fauna. Marl was exploited here until 1988, and the moor provided fuel for the brick kiln. Today, marsh cinquefoil, fibrous tussock-sedge and greater spearwort grow on the permanently wet grounds of the former peat-cutting sites. Various orchid species belong to the most remarkable flora. The barred warbler and the western marsh harrier, among others, nest in the former clay pits, which are dominated by reeds and fallow grounds. The area is also the habitat of various butterfly species and amphibians.
In order to support the growth, for instance, of the non-competitive orchids, wet moor sections are mowed several times a year. Public paths lead through the reserve. An information chart is located at the Alte Ziegelei, the old brickyard.
