Coastal landscape between the Priwall and Barendorf with Harkenbäk lowlands

Feature Description
Administrative district(s) or town: Nordwestmecklenburg
Size: 5.80 square kilometres
Reserve since: 1938
Location: The region north of Dassow stretches along the coast between the Priwall and Groß Schwansee.

Deipsee is the oldest part of the reserve, to which the Harkenbäk lowlands, creek glens on the cliff coast and the coastal dunes also belong.

Rare plants such as early marsh meadow orchid or marsh helleborine still grow in some places in the river lowland. The valley is partially lined by woods. At the mouth of the Harkenbäk the vegetation is impacted by salt and displays salt rush, sea arrow grass and coastal angelica.

The rosefinch, the barred warbler and the red-backed shrike belong to the species of birds which breed in the region. The sand lizard has its habitat in the dunes.

A biking and hiking trail follows along the Baltic Sea through the reserve. Several paths branch off and lead visitors to the beach.
