Crane Information Centre in Groß Mohrdorf

Every year in the spring and the autumn as cranes migrate between their breeding grounds in northern and eastern Europe and their winter quarters in southern France, Spain, Portugal and northwest Africa, they make a stopover in the Bodden landscape of Vorpommern. Especially in the autumn up to 60,000 of these impressive large birds can be seen feeding on the corn and maize stubble fields and approaching their sleeping grounds in the shallow waters in the evening.

If you have questions about stopovers or observation points, the Crane Information Centre in Groß Mohrdorf is the right address. In addition here you find a permanent exhibition with specimens, charts, slides and DVDs that give you insight into the life of the fascinating crane. Special events and guided tours complete the programme.
