Experience both animals and nature – this is the attractive combination Schwerin’s zoo offers its visitors. The grounds, which are embedded in a landscape shaped by end moraines with old tree populations, neatly incorporate the enclosures into the natural environment. 600 animals of 100 different species live here.
The large open-air preserve for brown bears and wolves, Tiger Mountain and the African savannah, where meerkats, giraffes, ostriches and zebras cohabit, are well worth seeing. For safety reasons the king of animals, however, resides alone. Visitors can look directly into his dwelling through glass panes.
Last but not least a petting zoo, feeding shows and exciting playgrounds make a day at the zoo a special experience for children.
