If you feel tempted to climb with monkeys and to jump with kangaroos, you can make your wish come true in the Ueckermünde zoological garden. The grounds at the Stettiner Haff dispose of natural habitat-oriented enclosures which allow visitors to get very close to the animals. A special highlight is the lions’ enclosure which was opened in 2000. However, here security glass separates curious observers from the king of animals.

The zoo is the home of 400 animals, among which numerous native species such as mouflons, eagle owls, pheasant, deer and the legendary Pomeranian geese. Children will enjoy the various amusements and info points where they can learn many new things about flora and fauna.

Nature lovers should not forget to bring along their binoculars to watch the nearby grey heron colony which is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Germany with 50 breeding couples.
