Peter Joseph Lenné designed, among others, the Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. Lenné completed his apprenticeship as a gardener at his uncle's in Brüel. This was the beginning of his career as a landscape architect.

You might ramble about the Sternberger Seenland Nature Park in Brüel a whole day without meeting a soul. When canoeing down the Warnow River you will not have to strain yourself - just let yourself drift - the stream will carry you through nature's scenery.
It is likely that the town of Brüel was developed on the grounds of an early Slavic fortress. The town was first
mentioned in a charter in 1222. The neo-Gothic church, which was built in the second half of the 13th century, reminds
us today of medieval times.
In the course of the centuries Brüel developed into a small farmers' town. The Thirty Years' War left its mark here,
too, destroying, among other structures, the town gates.
The publisher Detloff Carl Hinstorff was born in Brüel in 1811. In 1850 a new town hall was built in the neo-Gothic
style of the time.
