In connection with German wine, the Mosel, Rhine or Saar regions are the first to come to your mind - Crivitz, however, certainly not, although in the 18th and 19th century wine was grown in Crivitz. Today, only the name is reminiscent of Germany's northernmost vineyard.

The town of Crivitz invites you to go for a stroll and to discover the interesting details in its narrow and winding alleys. Enjoy the marvellous view of the town from the 70-metre-high vineyard from where you can also see the town lake and the medieval church.
The first trace of the town's existence dates back to 1251. Crivitz was first mentioned in chronicles in 1302. The
remains of the Slavic fortress grounds, however, lead to assume that the town was already colonised much earlier.
A major fire destroyed the fortress and the town gates in 1660. In 1704 nearly the whole town centre was ravaged by
another large fire.
