In the event of oncoming traffic, the old Draisine - rail trolley - has to be lifted from the rails. When you've mastered that, climb back on and continue pedalling on the rails through "Mecklenburg's Switzerland", the Mecklenburgische Schweiz. A former railway line, no longer used for public transport, makes this exceptional spree possible.

Situated on the banks of Klostersee the town of Dargun offers a picturesque site. Even today, the romantic remains of the old monastery convey to visitors an impression of how monumental and beautiful these grounds once used to be. In summer you will often hear music resounding over the courtyard and through the church. Why not attend a concert in this special ambience?
Dargun is where monks from the Danish monastery, Kloster Esrom, founded one of the oldest Cistercian settlements in
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 1172.
After the dissolution of the monastery in 1552 and at the behest of the dukes of Mecklenburg, the cloister structures
were converted into a representative side residence. Along with Güstrow, the 4-winged castle complex of Dargun ranked
among the most important Renaissance residences for a long time. In 1945 a major fire destroyed most of it.
