The German film "Iron Gustav" ("Der eiserne Gustav") featuring Heinz Rühmann tells the story of the cabman Gustav Hartmann, based on a novel by Hans Fallada written in 1938 in his house in Carwitz, a few kilometres south of Feldberg.

Wind rustling in the trees, water splashing against the lakeshore - recurring sounds you will experience on your walks in the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park. You can hike around the eight lakes and through old woodlands. At Luzin Lake you can ferry across in a very special way: The ferryman constructed the hand-operated boat himself.
The first settlement "Festes Haus Veltberg", built in the 13th century, was located on an island in Haus
Lake. For a long time Feldberg remained a small farmers' settlement, even though it was largely untroubled by wars and
other catastrophes.
Not until 1770 was Feldberg expanded, also along the shores of Haus Lake, as a result of massive clearings and the
clearance surfaces generated thereby.
Feldberg and its surroundings became a popular destination for excursions in the 19th century. In 1855 a hydropathical
institution was opened at Haus Lake which predominantly applied natural treatments. Today patients are still being
treated in the clinic, which has been modernised in the meantime.
