Graal-Müritz, Baltic seaside resort
approx. 4,200 inhabitants
Graal-M�ritz was first founded in 1938 after the merger of Graal and M�ritz. But already before that time many sick people benefited from the pleasant climate here. In the summer of 1923 Franz Kafka came to M�ritz for a 2-month treatment.
From Rostock you are quickly in Graal-M�ritz. The pier reaches as far as 350 metres into the sea with its magnificent beach. From here boats cast off taking course for Warnem�nde and the coast of the peninsula of Dar�. You should explore the beauties of the hinterland as well: On a bicycle you can easily cross the Rostock Heath which will lead you to a hunting lodge, the Jagdschloss Gelbensande.
Historical facts
The people of Graal-M�ritz lived on fishing for a long time.
At the beginning of the 19th century Graal-M�ritz welcomed its first resort guests. By around 1900 Graal and M�ritz
had already become exclusive health resorts with magnificent hotels and guest houses towered by giant shady trees.
The seaside health resort has become a popular recreational area most noted for its extensive and very well-tended
beach.
