From Neubukow to ancient Greece? The discoverer of Troy, Heinrich Schliemann, was born in Neubukow in 1822. Today the memorial - Heinrich-Schliemann-Gedenkstätte - reminds us of the archaeologist's contributions.

Gentle hills, woods and fields - on a bicycle ride you can discover the beautiful surroundings just as you can when hiking through the Hellbach Valley. Would you like to do some diving, swimming or surfing? You are only a few minutes by car from Rerik beach and the salt lagoon.
Neubukow was founded in the 13th century near an old castle. Documents from 1360 mention the town for the first
time. In the 16th century two large fires raged in Neubukow and destroyed great parts of the town.
The mayors of Neubukow had a special privilege until the occupation by Napoleon's soldiers in 1806: they were allowed
to issue widely recognised passports for their citizens.
No air raids were flown against Neubukow during the Second World War; thus the old centre of the town has been
preserved.
