Today the former royal stud of the Pasewalk Königin-Küraissier-Regiment (Queen's Cuirassier Regiment) serves as a venue for meetings of all sorts: the cultural forum "Historical U". Its event calendar is filled not only with a great variety of cultural events and exhibitions of contemporary artists but also with conventions, workshops and trade fairs.

You will be taking the most beautiful way to Pasewalk if you come to town along the Uecker in a canoe. Stay here for a while and take a look at the old fortification of the town with the prominent powder magazine "Kiek in de Mark". Are you interested in the town's old Prussian garrison? Then be sure not to miss the museum in the Prenzlau Gate.

Historical facts

The town of Pasewalk emerged from a merchants' settlement around the Nikolaikirche after the year 1200. In 1250 Pasewalk became a part of Brandenburg and was assigned the status of a town in the following year. From 1320 on, Pasewalk was favoured by its duty-free trade status.
