The oracle of... ? Most certainly you won't think about Röbel. However, the god Rabal is said to have given advice to the Slavs, when they took important decisions more than a thousand years ago. Legends have it that the name "Röbel" is derived from the name of this god.

Already on your way towards the picturesque little town of Röbel, the most prominent buildings of the town will catch your eye: the brick churches St. Marien and St. Nikolai. They certainly deserve a closer look. On numerous foot and bicycle paths you can explore the original landscape surrounding the town at Germany's largest lake, Müritz. Perhaps you will discover cranes, sea eagles or megalithic tombs. By no means however, should you miss a side trip to the nearby Müritz National Park. In the summertime Lake Müritz will tempt you to go for a swim, to paddle or to dive. Ships depart on sightseeing tours from the natural harbour.
Slavic fortress of the 10th century represents the origin of Röbel. In 1236 Heinrich Borwin II, a great-grandson of the Obotrite Prince Niklot, assigned Röbel the status of a town. Beside the old town, Nicolaus von Werle founded a new town in 1261. The separation of those two parts of the town was strictly observed until the late 18th century...
