The old Hanseatic city Rostock is not only the gateway to the Baltic Sea. On a tour of the city you will encounter many brick buildings, Backsteinbauten, such as the mighty Church of our Lady - Marienkirche - or one of the historical city gates, Stadttore. Are you interested in ships? On board and on the quay of the Schiffbau- und Schifffahrtsmuseum - Shipbuilding and Shipping Museum - you can see everything from a dugout to state-of-the-art ships. Not only your children will be fascinated by the Rostock Zoo. When you are lazing about in the sun on the Warnemünde beach, don?t lie directly at the water's edge. From time to time the bow wave of a ferry floods the first metres of the beach.

This trading area was granted the Lübeck town charter rights in 1218...
