There is also a "Switzerland" is our federal state. However, there you will search in vain for the highest mountain of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Northwest of Woldegk you will find Helpterberg; with its 179 metres it is higher than any other "mountain" in the state.

The lake mill in the east, Mühlenberg - "mill hill" - in the west, the Saalfeld Mill in the south: no matter where you come from, now you know why Woldegk bears the nickname "Mills Town". With a little bit of luck the blades of the Ehlert Mill are just rotating in the wind. Around Woldegk you can experience the environment close up in the lake district nature park, Naturpark Feldberger Seenlandschaft .
It is probable that the Brandenburg Margrave Johann I founded the town of Woldegk between 1244 and 1250. Towards the
end of the 13th century the Stargard region and also the village of Woldegk were granted to the Mecklenburg people as
feudal tenure. Numerous moats, ramparts, walls and stone gates that then marked the boarders of Woldegk date back to
those times.
During the Thirty Years' War plagues and large fires decimated the number of inhabitants in Woldegk to all of 14. As
late as in the 18th century handcraft and trade began to develop again. The first school building was inaugurated in
1780. After the opening of the Friedrich-Wilhelm railway in 1893, a sugar factory, brick and tile making works,
sawmills and the greatest steam-plough enterprise of Mecklenburg settled in Woldegk: A suburb was created.
During the Second World War major parts of the old town centre of Woldegk were demolished by bombs.
