According to legend, one Easter morning a young shepherd on the beach of Koserow on the island of Usedom saw a sacred old town rise up out of the surge of the Baltic Sea: the legendary Vineta. Since 1997, based upon the legend and with the Zinnowitz Baltic Sea theatre as the coulisse, the state theatre of Vorpommern has been producing fantastic and adventurous stories about the town that later sunk. Time and again goblins and fairies and other legendary figures are a part of the cast. Fireworks, laser shows and modern music promise the public a memorable “theatrical show” under the open sky.
To put everyone in the right mood for the festival there is a small theatrical production on the beach of Zinnowitz every year on Easter Sunday.
