"America has Florida and Austria the Alps. Germany has Mecklenburg-Vorpommern." This is how the weekly journal "Welt am Sonntag" recently portrayed our state.

As opposed to the climate of America's south-east coast, summer does not reign here throughout the whole year. So come and experience springtime in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, when the forest soil is covered with anemones. Let your gaze wander over bright yellow rape fields and listen to the cuckoo calling in the nearby forest.

Summer focuses entirely on the arts: in the open air, in lordly castles, in big churches and small barns – classical concerts, festivals and exhibitions take place in many different locations. However, it is not any less charming to listen to the rippling waves of a lake or to the gentle roar of the surf on a warm summer night.

Autumn is the travel season: Pick up the trail of Commander Wallenstein or discover the impressive brick buildings in the towns of our land.  Let yourself be fascinated by the "white architecture" of the gorgeous bathing resorts along the Baltic Sea coast or visit some of the numerous large and small mansions throughout the state.

Would you like to treat your soul to something special? Then you should enjoy a few relaxing winter days in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Alpine skiing may not be possible here, it is true, but excellent hotels will spoil you with wellness programmes. And: Those of you who would like to spend the festive season over here can welcome the new year at the Baltic Sea beach.
