In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern there are seven state universities for higher education and research. Along with the universities rich in tradition such as Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald and the University of Rostock, there is the Rostock Academy of Music and Drama and three high-performance universities in Neubrandenburg, Stralsund and Wismar. In addition, there is an university for public administration and police and judicial administration in Güstrow. Hardly any other state in Germany has such a favourable numerical ratio of students to scientists as here. The universities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have repeatedly received top evaluations in ranking studies for their good study environment and short training periods.
